As they say "it's not over until the fat lady sings". It's now looking as less likely as it was before last Saturday's fixtures again, so lets hope by the end of match day next Saturday everything has reverted back to where it was before tonights games were played.....

Agree, disappointing and a missed opportunity to be honest and we still got a point! But the one thing this team/squad has is bouncebackability and now we need to show it. I trust DC will find an answer on Saturday. UTG!

Hmmmm., Saw this coming, but regardless - yes, it has been a good season but the frustration is that I can see Stanley winning all their remaining games and Plymouth seem to have hit form again. Oxford are going to make a go of it, but would agree there will still be at least one more twist in this promotion tale.
My fear is that we are not strong enough to win the play-off's in fact I am not sure we would even get to Wembley, last nights game displays my reasoning.
The team selection and tactics last night were questionable and only DC can take the blame for that one.
But Hey!! this is Bristol Rovers and we always do things the hard way ......
To be continued

To be continued We have had a great and surprising season, at the start of the season i wouldn't have guessed we be in the 5th with 3 games to go. But now its frustrating that we had a game like last night that we shouldn't made such hard work of it, i cant understand why we would set up to counter the opposition with 3 cb's and 3 cm's, they should be more worried about us and we should have taken the game to them. I certainly cant understand why you would start with 3 players who haven't been in starting 11 for months are in no form whatsoever. Players need to be more up for the games remaining, seem lethargic with not much movement off the ball.

I think people need to take a little step back. Results like this happen all the time at this time of year.
Portsmouth getting done by York, Oxford drawing to Newport and Losing to Luton, Accrington losing on the weekend... the list goes on.
We were never going to win every single game we had left, and neither are any of the others.
It says great things that we are disappointed with draws and not celebrating making the playoffs considering our previous abysmal record in this division.
PS We'll finish second.

If we can win the next 3 and hope one of the others slip up ... maybe.
The fixtures taking place on the 30th look interesting 'IF' we can win our games that is.

Now then I view DC as a hero, but this tinkering I have mentioned before is still something of a problem. How many times have we seen a new formation go wrong, eg Leads in midfield and Gosling, only to be changed with subs for the better? Their manager in the local paper, a few days back, said our backs getting forward was a Rovers' weakness he'd spotted and this may be a reason for Clarke being behind Leads, but I doubt it. The play offs is a huge achievement, but having got into an auto position the formation/tactics should be set to keep us there. DC said in the the EP recently he can see the game in a player during training, not on last night showings I fear. Yep, this is Rovers, we don't do it the easy way.

There are lots more twists and turns to come yet so hang on in there and enjoy the ride. Totally agree. We have had too many seasons where these games are dead rubbers and have nothing to play for. There is everything to play for now and I am enjoying this immensely plus the sell outs are bringing out some of the old Rovers families in Kimgswood and, for me, that is priceless

I cant see Plymouth and Oxford winning all 3, so all to play for in my book.
Come saturday evening, it could all have changed again.
Last night was not enjoyable at all, but this is what its about, big games at the right end of the table.
Dont really want to consider it yet, but really dont want Pompey in the semis if we end in the play offs! The wombles on the other hand... would fancy that one.

If we win the last three games we end on 85 points and a GD close to 30. I'm fairly sure that, since 1995-96 when the league was increased to 24 clubs, that has always been enough for a minimum of third place. Mind you, during that period there was only one year other than two years ago when 50 points would have resulted in being in the bottom two!

In the nine seasons before this one, teams have been promoted on 85 points or fewer except for 2007-8, when Hereford got 88 points. The table shows the number of points achieved by the team promoted in third place in League Two. 2006-07 | 85 | 2007-08 | 88 | 2008-09 | 78 | 2009-10 | 82 | 2010-11 | 80 | 2011-12 | 84 | 2012-13 | 78 | 2013-14 | 81 | 2014-15 | 85 |

But even in 2007-8, the fourth placed team (Stockport County) finished on 82 points, so Hereford didn't really need to show off with 88 points!

Here's another table. It shows how many points the fourth-placed team ended up with. Ignoring goal differences, add 1 to show how many points would have been needed for automatic promotion! 2006-07 84 2007-08 82 2008-09 78 2009-10 73 2010-11 79 2011-12 83 2012-13 76 2013-14 76 2014-15 84

Chatting in work today to two Oxford season ticket holders and they are not convinced that they will get automatic, I said well you would say that but they are sure that things are not good, injuries etc.
