1-3 FT.
Awful, performance, yes we have injuries but this group of supposedly professional footballers lacked simple tactical nouse. The passing accuracy was atrocious, ball retention poor and we were second to the ball on far too many occasions
Stay for longer we were asked.
Well after over fifty years of continued support I've already canceled my plans for the next decade to fully commit to this rollercoaster ride of frustration and disappointment.

Thought Vaughan & Baggott played well after coming on. Both had good chances to score. Fantastic header from Martin to get our goal. Really missed Evans Ward and Conteh in midfield today. Hunt put over a few good crosses.

Fully understandable Jeff. What a shambolic performance, my mom was Lewis Gordon, I don’t rate him highly at all, but at least he tried and managed to complete most of his passes without really threatening anything, the lad Vaughan had heart and gave it a go, was much better than John ‘’I’m looking for the foul, or looking to complain’’ Marquis who did absolutely nothing except for falling over, and I rate him!... Happy to see Baggott get an assist and play reasonably well after being taken off so early against Stevenage, must have played on his mind. Ref was good I thought.

Is that Aguilera injured? Played that first game and then hasn't featured since my memory is rubbish.
Are we actually yet? Or not quite?

Just got back... From an on off iFollow.
Seen the 1st, 3rd & 4th goal....but after 35 mins it decided enough was enough until second half. In all honesty, it done me a favour as it was probably more frustrating watching that pile of drivel.
No midfielders? No defence, morelike... first goal was again atrocious defending reminiscent of relegation season. We seem to not decide to play until the game is almost lost, but there again we are seeing beach players probably in the last embers of their Gas careers....MT post match comments allude to that....why not start some of them in flip flops or crocks? Crocks more apt.
Some shining performances from afar. Really liked Vaughan, lively performance my m o m (!) Why not?
Baggot looking useful, except when he took the shot off of Hunt after that mazy run. Decent assist.
Keeper made some good saves.
Our crossbar played a blinder too.
One thing....nice one, ref!? I never realised a deliberate shirt pull in the pen area was ok? Also....if you stand still minding your own space and a player comes in over and above you and crashes you to the ground - you're the one who's committed the foul!? Absolute numpty.
If it wasn't for CM we'd be in the sh!t....I still tip him to make 20 goals in this very unforgettable season.
At the end of the day, not good enough. Again. MT subs did affect change but we rightly got beat by the better team.
MT says change is in air as unacceptable conceding goals in that fashion. We'll see.
My point is .... If it isn't the right time to blood some of your own now, when is it? Too many senior players aren't turning up.... Wilson Crama Grant poor. Why not mix it up with Connolly back and Lawrence Jones and Greenslade?
I honestly wonder what we would have to lose?

Let’s get to 52 points and be thankful for that. Those of my age would give an arm for a Vaughan Jones, Steve Cross, Ian Holloway to bring authority and order on the pitch.

Match Stats: Northampton 3 BRFC 1 - Possession: 43% - 57% - Shots: 7-13 - On Target: 4-4 - Corners: 3-5 - Referee: Adam Herczeg - Attendance: 6,817
i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9104039.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_GettyImages-1453213343-1.jpg A general view of Sixfields, home of Northampton TownNorthampton earned their first win in five games with a home victory over Bristol Rovers. The hosts were ahead inside just three minutes at Sixfields when a 23-pass move ended with Patrick Brough picking up the pieces and firing home after Tyreece Simpson failed to sort his feet out. Scott Sinclair curled narrowly wide at the other end as Rovers chased an equaliser, but the visitors struggled to turn pressure into chances and they found themselves further behind at the break. With five minutes of the first half to go, Kieron Bowie switched play to Brough and his low cross found Mitch Pinnock who took a touch before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner. Brough crashed a volley against the crossbar at the start of the second half before Rovers halved the deficit with 11 minutes to go when Chris Martin headed in from Elkan Baggott's knockdown. But Marc Leonard calmed home nerves with a sensational goal just five minutes later as his first-time strike flew into the top corner from all of 30 yards. Match report supplied by PA Media.

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Northampton: Martin scores 13th goal of the season in defeat..By Daniel Hargraves.Jed Ward - 6 A familiar story where, despite conceding three goals, the goalkeeper didn't actually have much to do having faced four shots on target. Jack Hunt - 6 The right-back whipped in some cracking deliveries but they didn't materialise into anything of note. A couple of giveaways he won't be happy with. Would love to know his preference on full-back or wing-back because the 33-year-old certainly seems to fare better playing the former. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9106656.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_3547337.jpgJames Wilson (Above) - 5 It's tough to justify giving the central defender a higher score on a day where Rovers conceded three goals and where he also got booked. Like all of his teammates, just not his best day at the office. Tristan Crama (off for Elkan Baggott 46') - 5 The centre-back had a few uncharacteristic moments as the Gas conceded an early goal before taking some time to settle down. It looked like Rovers were settling into the game and were in control before the second proved to be a sucker punch. Crama was brought off at the break, not 100 per cent sure of the reason. Lewis Gordon - 6 The left-back seems to be going under the radar a little bit. Similarly to Hunt, not his best game defensively but going forward the 23-year-old looked a major threat and has a cracking delivery on him. Josh Grant (off for John Marquis 66') - 5 It has to be noted that some of these players played well out of position this afternoon given the shortage and Grant was one who was in unfamiliar territory in the middle. Had some decent moments but didn't look comfortable in a tricky game for the Gas. Harvey Vale (off for Harry Vaughan 46') - 6 Good to see the Chelsea loanee back on the pitch quickly but evidently his minutes had to be managed. Amid the midfield shortage, the 20-year-old was dropped deeper than he probably would've liked and did well enough considering the circumstances getting the occasional challenge in and trying to get his teammates moving. Luke Thomas - 6 A couple of bright spells on the ball but wasn't able to grab the game by the scruff as firmly as he did on Tuesday night. Jevani Brown - 6 Didn't quite get into the game as much as what he would have liked. As mentioned in the live blog, Northampton actually defended very well for the majority of the game with some vital blocks in there. The attacking midfielder just couldn't find a way to be as effective as he has been of late. Scott Sinclair (off for James Connolly 72') - 6 Honestly, the winger is pushing a seven having looked like the most likely player in blue and white to create anything of note in the final third in the first half and had probably the Gas' best chance of the match with a curling effort going just wide. Although not the result anyone wanted, not a bad first league start in nearly four months. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9107281.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3552270-1.jpgChris Martin (Above) - 7 Goal number 13 for the striker. A proper poacher's finish and he may well have thought he was going to bag another late on as the Gas looked to claw a way back into the game. Substitutions:Harry Vaughan (on 46') - 7 A lot more like it from the Hull City loanee. Got on the ball regularly throughout the second half and looked to make things happen. Much improved. Elkan Baggot (on 46') - 7 Another much improved display despite the result. The young defender came on and made the intended impact in the final third given his height, assisting Martin's goal. Almost looked as though he'd scored for himself late on. John Marquis (on 66') - 6 Almost scored with one of his first touches after coming on and used his body well to try and make things happen for his team. James Connolly (on 72') - 6 Didn't have too much to do but looked a threat from corners.

'We have to change' - Matt Taylor offers honest Bristol Rovers verdict after Northampton loss..By Daniel Hargraves
Matt Taylor rued repeated mistakes once again by his Bristol Rovers side after a 3-1 defeat at Northampton Town.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9082799.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS323003516.jpgMatt Taylor has insisted that his Bristol Rovers side has to change as familiar issues once again cost them in a 3-1 defeat away at Northampton Town. The Gas gave themselves a mountain climb in the second half after conceding avoidable goals in the third and 40th minute with a curling effort wide from Scott Sinclair the visitor's clearest opportunity to equalise in the first period. Their response was decent and the deficit was eventually halved when Chris Martin headed home his 13th goal of the season following a smart header across goal from substitute Elkan Baggott. However, the victory was wrapped up by the hosts just five minutes later as Marc Leonard scored following a corner. Taylor, who had to watch on from the stands after picking up his sixth yellow card of the season, cut a frustrated figure that has become all too familiar lately amid repeated issues. The Pirates boss had to pick his words carefully post-match, saying: "We have to change. We can’t keep standing here and say the same things. Fans will see it, the league position shows it. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9098333.ece/ALTERNATES/s510b/0_3555083.jpg"The constant is how leaky we are, how soft we are, how many goals we concede and then when we do concede goals, how hard we have to work to chase games so we’re certainly giving teams a leg up in relation to that. "Like I said we have to do a bit more work than what has been happening previously and we’ll quickly get that into them." On the game and performance itself, Taylor added: "Similar to recent events. A poor first half. We couldn’t get near enough to the game. We couldn’t hold our legs and find any aggression in our running in that first half. We were probably second best too often. Those goals are really poor from our point of view. Both preventable. There’s a softness that’s happened for a long period of time. "Second half we were brighter. More purposeful. Ran harder. The simplicity in that is incredible and got back in the game. Then a set piece has cost us." Having done excellently to recover a 2-0 deficit on Tuesday night and win 3-2 away at Stevenage, Rovers struggled to demonstrate any consistency. Admittedly, it was a patched-up midfield given injuries and suspensions throughout the squad in that department but it was another case of continuous issues such as conceding soft goals, being second to balls on too many occasions. This all points to major changes in the summer but first there are still 13 league matches left to contest as the Gas look to finish as high in the table as possible. A major frustration on the back of the defeat at Sixfields will be that it was a missed opportunity to gain ground on a side near them in the table and reduce the gap on another with Northampton leapfrogging the Pirates while Leyton Orient lost at home to Burton Albion. "I think they’re capable of a lot more to be honest with you," the Rovers manager insisted. "Certainly in terms of their intent to shift around the pitch quicker than we did. But if they’re not the habits and that’s not being valued enough and they’re not capable of doing it often enough in back-to-back games which has been a problem for us then they’ll simply struggle to stay at this football club."
