Morning all. I received the Clubs Northampton ‘Matchday’ email early this morning and went into an immediate tail spin thinking I had missed the match!. The date shown for the match on the email is 16.02.24 (Yesterday/Friday) it’s easy to catch me out what with the time difference and had me scrambling for my calendar…ha ha..you cannot make it up!…..

View AttachmentYep, I often have to double check my alarm particularly when clocks change in either country and yes, I have either got up too early or missed the first half on the odd occasion. As for today, the severe lack of available players has me thinking a draw would be a good result. But hey.. you never know. UTG

Hard fought draw with a threadbare squad would be a decent return.

For the sake of those cunning 3 at the end of the line, you know you are (!) I so wish for a Gas win today.
But I fear for something else. Probably more humiliating.
Battle of the injuries today, difficult to see if the square pegs in round holes will have a positive influence, and they'll be after us because of recent history going against them.
I expect a physical, gamesmanship like challenge. Beachy head says Lose by odd goal. 1-0.
Happy with a draw from this one before a pigs bladder is kicked.

Rovers are getting points where we don't expect them to, and dropping them when they shouldn't. So tough to call. Bookies have it (roughly) as: Rovers slight favourites to win at 6-4 Draw 5-2 Cobblers win 7-4 A stronger mentality was on view Stevenage... hopefully we're going to get harder to beat. I'll go for a 1-1 draw.

We always make it tough these days, conceding early, so I hope we are at the races from the start Leaning 1-1 optimistically or even 2-2.
A point will be good, especially with injuries.

Latest bet365 odds are:
Northampton Town 13/8. Draw 13/5. Gas 31/20.
Indication not much in it.
Other places to spend your vice money, and bet irresponsibly or not at all.

Vale only to play 45 mins according to MT so presumably Harry Vaughan or I hope Jerry Lawrence gets a rare opportunity to see what he can do. He has been recalled from his loan at Tiverton Town.
Good to see Scott Sinclair in after his good contribution at Stevenage.

Luke Thomas looks up for it again. Two great pieces of defending there

Ref got that one wrong.
Got a feeling he bottled it as it surely would have been a penalty and possibly a red too.

2-0...
Northampton teaching us how to accurately pass and play positive direct football.
No miracle comeback this time I'm afraid, we are looking so fragile in defence.

Now 6 games in 2024 where we’ve been 2-0 down and it’s only February

Another chance to consolidate in the top 10, and another limp, lethargic display that doesn't build on a positive performance in the preceding game.
Northampton also have injuries.
The fanbase will accept losing, but they will not accept losing to poor teams in such a gutless and uninspiring way.
We need to win against Carlisle, then find two wins from 12 and get this very disappointing and very draining season over with.
