600 mins now without a goal a previous B***** record of 584 surpassed today. The superb save by Bolton keeper from Martin header at 0 0 within mins of second half was the difference of us possibly winning and ending the goal drought. Plenty of effort by many today particularly Conteh and Aguilera although the latter was at fault for first goal. But the scoreline flatteted the visitors. Agreed, it was an amazing save, the ball had passed the poInt of no return, It was a goal for sure, then from nowhere the keeper stretched back and managed to claw it out (reminded me of a save Gordan Banks made 1970) That would have put us one nil up and who’s knows then what the final score would have been. Much improved performance and they are starting to look like a team who can mix with the top clubs which bodes well for next season. UTG

Admitted i didn't bother (again) to watch the second half but your view of the game was diametrically the opposite to mine. In all my sixty years of following the GAS this current bunch are amongst the most lackluster and lacking in character that i have ever watched.
Brexiters got their country back. B***** out brigade got their club back.
Be careful what you wish for.

B***** out brigade got their club back. Be careful what you wish for. It wasn't the so called 'B***** Out' brigade that got rid of B*****. It was this bunch of players, bar a few, and B***** himself with his crap results. Remember 65% possession no shots on goal? It's an urban myth amongst the B***** cult that we were marching on to glory (17th and falling) and that so called B***** Out fans got him culled. We just weren't good enough and some of HIS players are showing, even now, that they can't be bothered to act like the professional footballers they are supposed to be. Taylor deserves the same courtesy, support, and time that B***** was given. B***** supporters aren't even gracious enough to give him that. They have not supported Taylor [and hence the club they claim to support] right from the beginning, or given him the time they gave B*****. Whether Taylor is the right man or not, he should be given the same support as B*****. Otherwise the comparisons are unfair, unbalanced and fruitless. Also I didn't see the same bile and vitriol in social media against B***** that Taylor is getting from so called Gasheads.

Perhaps if you had watched the second half you would have a better perspective on the untapped potential of this team, who in spells outplayed Bolton and had them pinned down on the ropes. Brexiters got their country back - not true hence the emergence of Reform UK only this time they won’t bail the Tories out. B***** out brigade got their club back - to be fair to B***** he helped to modernise the club we got back, but B***** carried to much baggage, past and present and it was only a matter of time. I wish the Gas would show us what they are capable off, and I am looking forward to Tuesday when a long awaited Goal from the Gas, will give them the confidence to kick on and Reading could be in for an uncomfortable night. B***** out brigade got their club back. Be careful what you wish for. I certainly wouldn't say the last 60 years. You need to make a distinction. I think the team that went down under Garner/Tisdale/B***** wasn't good enough. The team that went down under Penney/Campbell had major issues with professionalism and character and should have been in the top half of the table rather than relegated. We know the issues, and hopefully MT does as well. Too many loanees and too many players at the end of their careers. We need players like Stuart Sinclair, Stuart Campbell, Andy Tillson and Ian Holloway. You can have youth team players from Notts Forest and Leicester if you want, but only as the sprinkling on the cake. Incidentally, we've also previously had 'local' players whose attitude has left something to be desired (Coles and Cureton), so this isn't a panacea. The responsibility for the current mess lies squarely with Mr B*****. MT should be doing better with what he has, but he has been dealt a very bad hand.

What the f*** do we have to do to score? We are safe - no need to get worked up about this. And I'm certainly not going to get worked up about Aaron Collins celebrating. A bit classless given that he should received more stick than he did for his non-performances towards the end of his time here. But given all that is happening in the world, really not that important. I'm not even bothered about the non-scoring record. Its no big deal. Get McCormick, Ward and the youth players some minutes in what remains, and let the season fizzle out to an end. Collins barely celebrated, thought he was creditably muted after he scored the goal. Not classless at all.

Wow, you have a very low tolerance level then when it comes to celebrating.
"Classless" would have been over exuberantly jumping around, or shushing the crowd, something like that. He literally put his arms up in the air, accepted some congratulations from team mates and moved on.
And he clapped the Rovers fans when he was subbed off too. All around us, people were saying that was a decent gesture from him, he didn't have to do it.
He's a Bolton player, he owes Rovers nothing. The relationship between the player and the club was mutual; Rovers were good for him, he was good for Rovers. End of story.
I think his behaviour on Saturday was spot on.

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Bolton: by Daniel Hargraves.Jed Ward - 6 Claimed deliveries excellently but wasn't forced into a notable save and conceded two goals which he couldn't do anything about. James Wilson - 7 Another solid game from the experienced defender who has looked more like his usual self in the past two games. The centre-back was excellent on the ball and made himself available whenever needed. Outstanding challenge on Cameron Jerome in the box late on. Connor Taylor - 7 A couple of dodgy moments in the first half but overall the defender had a solid game with some outstanding blocks and clearances. Deserved a clean sheet in all honesty. No doubt will be disappointed with the late yellow card and challenge to concede the penalty which put the result beyond doubt. James Connolly (off for Lewis Gordon 73') - 7 Pushing an eight in all honesty but losing the clean sheet and getting booked has knocked the defender down. However, he deserves major plaudits. Kept Aaron Collins quiet excellently in the first half and played with a point to prove. It's fair to say he was a surprise inclusion in the starting 11 but he took his chance well and is now surely in line for a start against Reading on Tuesday. Luke Thomas - 7 May feel as though he should be coming away from the Mem with a goal to his name but plenty of bright moments back in at right wing-back, adding an energy and brightness in the final third that the Gas have probably been lacking in his absence. Scott Sinclair - 6 Looked his usual lively self down the left when with the ball and attacking the opponent's goal. Defensively did fine but eyebrows were certainly raised when the line up showed the winger playing left wing-back. However, certainly proved that he was more than capable in there. Kamil Conteh (Below, off for Luke McCormick 89') - 6 It was great to see the midfielder back in the side and it certainly made a difference. Some solid challenges as we've come to expect from the youngster and a couple of smart passes forward. The frequency at which he's picking yellow cards up though must be a slight concern. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9210392.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-2143427419.jpgBrandon Aguilera (Above, off for Grant Ward 73') - 6 Evidently a fantastic player but just couldn't find that necessary little bit of extra quality to link up with his teammates to create the necessary opening. I think the Nottingham Forest loanee can still be excused for a bit of fatigue as well having had a month out injured and a significant amount of miles put on the clock over the international break. It's a shame that Rovers will only get a maximum of five more games from him because a bit more time in the side and he could have made a serious difference. Antony Evans - 7 Looked to pull the strings for Bristol Rovers with the captain's armband on and was, as expected, the go to man to make something happen for the hosts. Frustratingly, it wasn't to be once again. Jevani Brown (off for John Marquis 73') - 6 Plenty of intent from the forward who looked a real threat at times but the ball never really seemed to fall for him. Picked up some smart positions but just needed a bit more luck. Chris Martin - 6 Held the ball up well and was unlucky with his chances but not the striker's day again. Seemed to link up well with Jevani Brown though, possibly something to note going into Tuesday. Substitutes:Grant Ward (on 73') - 6 Had a few sights of goal but the ball just didn't fall to him as he would have liked. Lewis Gordon (on 73') - 6 Looked to make himself available when needed but Rovers were pushing for an equaliser at the time of coming on. His introduction was necessary to change the shape though. John Marquis (on 73') - 6 Tried to make himself a handful but the ball didn't fall to him. Luke McCormick (on 89') - N/A Not enough time to make an impact.

Its not Matty Taylor levels of ingratitude, but I don't think its unreasonable to expect him to simply turn around and jog back to the half-way line, especially as the move was so recent. As I recall, Billy Bodin showed how it should be done in the FA cup game by not showing even a hint of a celebration when he scored against us. We received 750,000 for him, so it did work for both of us. However, before joining us, he was a FGR player. I remember being disappointed when we signed him, as he had done nothing in his career to suggest that he would be a decent striker in the league above. Without us, he would playing for Morecambe or Newport County, or even in the conference.

When we had pitch invasions some state it's emotion and you can't take it away from football. Now I see people wanting a player not to celebrate if he scores against us and previously played for us. So control emotions.
Oh yeah it's a forum and some want everything to suit them.
I'm Martin scored against the Ted's I would live him to celebrate wildly if the winner.

Would Barry Hayles, Marcus Stewart, Jason Roberts or Nathan Ellington have celebrated? I don't think they would have even raised a smile (and Stewart is a city fan). This would only work if the people who said pitch invasions are emotion also said Aaron Collins shouldn't celebrate. One doesn't follow the other. I'm not in favour of pitch invasions (and strongly condemned the S*nthorpe invasion) but I do think that Aaron Collins should have instead just jogged back to the centre circle. I would also expect Martin to celebrate after scoring against the teds, but this is mainly because their fans have been quite rude about him and his footballing abilities after he joined us.

Sadly the best team (on the day, in my opinion) lost.
Feared we'd be thumped, and would watch 90 minutes of desperate defending. Pleasantly surprised to see us create more chances, and better chances, than Bolton - shame we couldn't finish any.
Still can't understand how their 'keeper kept out Martin's header. Thought is was past him and had gone in. When it was clear it hadn't I was scratching my head wondering whether it had hit the post.
Collin's goal I thought at the time both he and Dadi Bodvarsson were well offside. Unfortunately it's impossible to tell from the camera angle on the highlights.

Would suggest that C Taylor played them on. Poor positioning by him. Think nor his best game turned over by a 37 year old who tricked him into the challenge. Collins left him for dead first half. If Hoole, Gordon or Connolly had made any of these mistakes then there would be an outcry on the forums. Funny game.
