As an added bonus, Buckinghamshire's answer to Rushden & Diamonds are now losing 4-2 and down to 10 men against Barnsley, having thrown away a 2-1 lead, which will no doubt please Mrs V Smegma and enrage their gobby fanbase.
Perhaps too much to hope for, but every year a team topples from mid-table serenity into the relegation mire...

That save by Ward was as good as a goal. Great stuff.

Anyone see what Wilson did for the red? Ref was shocking second half. Apparently you are allowed to rip shirts off players according to him

1,117 Gas. About 1,115 of them in fine voice. We're Bristol Rovers, we don't need a drum
Nice ground, the rain stayed away
They battered us 1st 10 minutes, then we had the better of the 1st half. The goal was a peach - a super move up the left drew a foul. Then an inch-perfect cross from Evans was met by an inch-perfect glance from Martin.
They tried to respond, but I thought we looked more likely to score.
2nd half was a whole different ballgame. Their right winger was giving us the same sort of trouble as Scottie had been giving them first half.
On 60 minutes Taylor and Finley came on for Vale and brown which I took to be Matt Taylor taking the bus out of the garage.
From a distance Finley sometimes looks like a young Francis Prince. Those were the days...
Orient monopolised the play, and had hundreds of corners, but we kept reasonable shape and work rate, and they rarely came close to scoring. Their best effort was met by a great save from Ward, and the next best flashed across the face of goal
We also played brainy football at times - Ward, Martin and Finley all managing the game well.
Both teams had a good 1st touch and close control, and it was a tight match. The one classy move from Rovers provided the difference on the scoreboard.
I heard some O's on the way out saying how terrible the ref was. I thought he had a very good game, and we deserved our yellows. Don't believe anything I write though as I never noticed that Wilson had been sent off

Who are your tip for the fourth relegation place (other three seem nailed-on)? I think it will be Cheltenham, who I think have peaked too early. Meanwhile, C*ty are only now only six points off the bottom three, having failed to pick up any points against very poor championship teams (Sheff Wed, Q.P.R, Cardiff) and a tough run of games coming up. Couldn't happen, could it?

Matt Taylor's summary of the contest"I thought it was a high quality game of football for the first half. They are such a strong team and have got such a great rhythm about them and that showed in that first half. I really liked the structure of the team. "We actually could have made more use of the ball in that first half and had the best chance of it in LT’s chance and then got ahead with a set-piece goal. We looked like we had a threat about us, especially down Scotty’s side. He gave their right-back a real torrid time. "Then they started the second half really brightly and then as we’re chasing it and changing the shape which we implemented, we got a bit more of a foothold in the game and were able to withstand the pressure that was on us. Jed wasn’t overworked but then the unexpected happened and we lose a man to a sending off that I’ve not seen back. Then it is backs against the wall for the last 15 minutes of the game. "Jed’s had to make a few saves and we’ve rode our luck a little bit but that’s what you need when you go down to 10 men against a quality team."

Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Leyton Orient..By Daniel Hargraves.Jed Ward - 8 Outstanding display from the goalkeeper who, despite serious second half pressure, had his stand out moment towards the end with a crunch save to keep Rovers' lead in tact. A well-deserved and slightly overdue clean sheet for the young goalkeeper who continues to impress. Jack Hunt (off for Harvey Vale 6') - N/A Another injury for the right-back. Really feel for him, particularly given that he had to come off so early. James Wilson (sent off 84') - 7 A real shame to see the defender sent off because he was having an excellent game but there was always the risk of a second yellow when booked midway through the first-half. Focusing on the positives, the centre-back's experience was vital as he and partner Elkan Baggott looked pretty composed in the first half while dealing with numerous corners in the second. A significant presence at the back to earn the clean sheet, just a shame to see him sent off. Elkan Baggott - 8 The Ipswich loanee's best game for Rovers so far in my opinion. He certainly deserved to keep his spot after last weekend as well as his cameo against Northampton Town but the 21-year-old looked composed on the ball, won plenty of duels and was a serious contributor to the clean sheet. Lewis Gordon - 8 A stellar display from the full-back, particularly when considering that he played out of position at right-back for most of the game which didn't seem to phase him. Made himself useful in the final third but was particularly effective blocking crosses and putting his body on the line. A huge part of that clean sheet. Luke Thomas - 7 The winger was another key contributor for the visitors who probably showed his best stuff in the second half when putting his body on the line where it was needed to keep the lead in tact. Dropped in at right wing-back too. Kamil Conteh - 8 Dictated the play in the middle of the park for the Gas on the ball and got himself stuck in on numerous occasions off of it. A significant contributor to the clean sheet and the midfielder continues to impress at Rovers. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9137161.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_3550880.jpgAntony Evans (above) - 8 To few surprises, the midfielder demonstrated exactly what Rovers had missed during his two-game absence. Great link-up, gritty defending, superb work rate and stand-out quality on the ball. The 25-year-old may feel he deserves the goal but it's certainly an assist for the stand-in captain with replays still leaving us none the wiser as to whether or not Chris Martin did indeed get a touch, despite the celebrations. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9122818.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_3558967.jpgScott Sinclair (above - off for Josh Grant 84') - 7 Pushing for an eight in all honesty. A real livewire in the final third for the Gas and could have had a goal for himself early on but his pace caused all sorts of problems, especially in the first half. Also worth noting the 34-year-old's defensive contribution too. His experience was a particularly useful asset. Jevani Brown (off for Sam Finley 62') - 7 The forward linked up with his teammates well and put plenty of pressure on the Orient defence to force errors and subsequently open up space. Chris Martin - 9 The striker will grab the headlines for his gaol and rightly so but his impact in his own box as opposed to the opposition's was invaluable. Most of the second half saw the Gas defending corner after corner which had been a pretty frequent occurrence in the first period too but Martin got a touch on a significant proportion of those deliveries. Furthermore, he was always there to hold the ball up when Rovers looked to get themselves out of trouble. Such an asset for this side. Substitutes:Harvey Vale (on 6') (off 62') - 7 Arguably unlucky not to start but was quickly given an opportunity and was excellent in at left-back, putting in necessary challenges and getting forward on occasion. Probably couldn't have done anything with the handball that he was booked for but it wasn't worth the risk keeping him on with the hosts pushing. Connor Taylor (on 62') - 7 Helped keep the clean sheet in tact. Great to see him back. Sam Finley (on 62') - 7 Some classy moments from the skipper. Also great to have him back. Josh Grant (on 84') - N/A Came on late but still got booked, not 100 per cent sure why.

Thanks for info Epping. Can’t see how Elizabeth line will help us though as on coach to Victoria. Think we get tube to cannon street then switch to bank and central line out to Leyton. Am I missing something? Ah, sorry. Only just seen this as recently returned home from football myself. Paddington to Liverpool Street / Stratford on the Lizzie Line saves a lot of time. Coming in from Victoria - bit more of a traditional slog through central London to Leyton. I hope the pub tips helped anyway... An Orient mate sent me a screenshot of the stats which suggest Rovers may have stolen the points. Other comments here don't really bear that out. The only stat that counts is in the goals for and goals against column. I'm guessing you knew that...

We were the better side first half and deserved the lead. They changed their shape at half time and put us under pressure for long spells but we defended really well. Didn’t create much in the second half and it was all hands to the pumps when Wilson saw red (still no idea why).
Thought ref Drysdale was awful second half and did not pick up Beckles manhandling people in the box at every corner. I assume it was him who ripped Conteh’s shirt almost clean in two and probably led to whatever happened between Cooper and Wilson. No idea why Orient fans would think he was bad as they had the best of it from him
Draw would probably have been fair on balance of chances but our dogged defending and everyone battling nicked the points.

Some random thoughts from today:
Jed Ward really looks the part. Wasn’t sure when I saw him at Hungerford last season that he was good enough but he is keeping Cox out of the side on merit and we look better for it
I keep wondering how good Chris Martin would have been for us if we’d been able to get him 10 years ago. Shame he wasted those seasons with the s**theads
Scotty Sincs can still be devastating when played on the wing. He looks lost up front and hasn’t got the legs for WB which is where poundland pep insisted on playing him
So impressed with Kamil Conteh. He wasn’t the sort of midfielder I had in mind as a replacement for Coutts but I think he is better for that. Rarely wastes a pass, reads the game well and breaks play up by getting a foot in - often helping us go forward. I hope we can show him the love as based on what I’ve seen to date bigger clubs will be eyeing him up.
Lewis Gordon looks a decent full back but a WB he is not. Had a chance to shoot in second half and looked like a rabbit in the headlights
I like Grant’s versatility and he turns in consistent performances wherever he is asked to play without ever really nailing down a position. I hope we give him another contract
Ditto Harvey Vale. Wonder if we have any chance of getting him permanently? He must be way down chelski’s pecking order

Think the weetabix munchers will be the ones to go. IIRC their squad has been thinned out since last season and I wonder if they have the strength in depth to survive. Dark horses to drop - Charlton

one other thing - an outrageous bit of skill by, I think, Evans at one point in the match. That should be on a highlights reel. Close-control trickery that had everyone stunned, and amused
