Where to start after yet another abysmal performance. At best that was League 2 or even National League standard football. Unacceptable, simply unacceptable. I am fuming. Feel truly sorry for overseas fans who get up in the middle of the night to watch this crap! Mind you, the fans at the game deserve a medal! I get up in the middle of the night because of nightmares about what the future holds for Rovers.

It’s a bit like Keith said about leagues 1&2 being a training ground for Premiership loanees. Too much chopping and changing at each window causing inconsistency and a lack of stability. They have to be bedded in and gel with the rest of the squad, which is what we’re experiencing right now - and they’re 20-year-olds. It’s not the way to build a team and I sympathise with any manager in that position.

Match Stats: BRFC 1 Burton 2 - Possession: 68% - 32% - Shots: 7-13 - On Target: 3-7 - Corners: 5-1 - Referee: Sam Purkiss - Attendance: 7,855 (234 away)... i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9091786.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_3553320.jpg Luke Thomas on the ball for Bristol Rovers against Burton Albion
Match report from the Burton Albion site by Ian Hawkins...Ciaran Gilligan’s first Brewers goal set Albion on course for a battling 2-1 victory at Bristol Rovers. The Academy graduate struck the first senior goal of his career just before half time to give Albion the platform for a disciplined second half performance where Mark Helm’s well worked goal gave Albion a two goal lead before Rovers skipper Antony Evans set up a nervy final half hour. After the disappointment of defeat to Lincoln City last time out, boss Martin Paterson made four changes for the trip to Rovers. Latest signing Toto Nsiala was handed an immediate debut as part of the three-man back line with Jasper Moon ruled out through injury. Tom Hamer made his return from injury, a first start since November, taking over at right wing back in place of Jake Caprice. Paterson opted to rotate his forward options with Mason Bennett preferred in attack alongside Ademola Ola-Adebomi with Kyle Hudlin on the bench. With Deji Oshilaja suspended there was a recall for Ciaran Gilligan in the centre of midfield. Having been recalled from his loan at Mickleover, Finn Delap provided the defensive cover amongst the substitutes. In a somewhat scrappy start both sides struggled to create anything of note. Albion had a couple of long throws from Hamer on the left which threatened to unsettle the home defence, Nsiala heading a tame effort straight at keeper Jed Ward before Joe Powell had a go from just outside the box on 16 minutes when Rovers could only half clear another throw launched into the area. Rovers struggled to create much to trouble the Brewers defence until a spell of pressure just after the half hour mark worked a presentable chance to Brandon Aguilera, the midfielder’s shot relatively comfortable for Max Crocombe to his left. The home side were closer on 35 minutes, Luke Thomas steering the ball into the danger area where Jevani Brown missed his shot and Antony Evans saw his effort blocked on the edge of the six-yard box. But it was Albion who hit the front two minutes before half time. Mason Bennett exploited space on the right and sent in an awkward ball that keeper Ward kicked away, Helm fired the loose ball goalwards where it was blocked out to Gilligan who coolly lobbed the ball back inot the net. HALF TIME: BRISTOL ROVERS 0-1 BURTON ALBIONAlbion almost caught Rovers cold at the start of the second half. Helm feeding Bola and the wing back’s cross was whipped off the toe of Bennett by Conor Grant. Eleven minutes into the second half and Albion did have a second, Bennett did well to feed the ball through to Ola-Adebomi and he had time and space to thread the ball through to Helm and he calmly did the rest. But Rovers hit back five minutes later as they finally found some attacking flow and skipper Evans swept home from the edge of the box. Brown glanced a header wide with twenty minutes to go as the home side sensed an equaliser. Nsiala picked up a knock and had to be replaced, Delap coming on for his EFL debut whilst Helm was also replaced, Antwoine Hackford coming on in his place. Evans, having notched once, had time and space to try and curl a second and a dipping effort landed, thankfully, wide of the post. Rekeem Harper and Hudlin entered the fray with ten minutes to go as Ola-Adebomi and Gilligan got a breather. Rovers tried to pile on the pressure in the closing stages but Albion’s back line stood firm and repelled everything that came into the box to see how a gritty victory.

Reading between the lines, MT hints that too many players are not up to it and major changes are to come.
I hope the journeymen amongst this group of players have some level of self-respect and help get us to 52 points ASAP, I'm not 100% confident they have.

Shows how much we rely on Martin for goals. Horrible game again against a relegation side! Both sentences, spot on. Marquis charges about like an excited puppy that`s been let off it`s leash on the Downs. But converting all that energy into something more productive, rarely looks like happening.

Brown - ok he picks up an assist for Evans goal, but he fluffed 3 clear chances. First half an air-kick when the ball was squared to him; late second half put through on goal, dallies, and allows the defender to block the shot, then doesn't get a free header on target.
1 goal for us so far, a super curling effort, but not good enough.

Shocking defending.
First Burton goal we have 2 defenders close to their attacker, and both choose to run away from the man on the ball. The player should have been held up. The cross could have been prevented at source. Poor communication. Basics.
Second Burton goal a long ball from deep in their half, first challenge out-muscled, and we are then chasing shadows, always a man spare, not tracking runners.
People on the fickle facebook groups saying Taylor's style is hoof-ball. Well it ain't good, it ain't pretty, but hoof-ball it is not. They are trying to pass out from the back, some nice moves, but overall getting nowhere. And ironically proper hoof-ball worked for Burton!

Just got back..
Hey another fun day out on the Road where it was particularly busy where we were early doors.... hilarious as Weiman thought he'd scored on the early Ipsh*t v West Brom match to spark sheeeeeedhead sheeeeeedhead!
....and one gang of guys remaining silent during that looking very awkward! They weren't out for the football.
At 5pm, neither were we.
Anyhoos, onto less important things:
Beach beach beach....when you're not first to the ball, or sometimes even second to the ball all you need is a few shots on target and one or two will go in.
Anyone who braved Tues night, watched a regurgitation of that, we continued in our pointless way.
It's a frustrating time atm, performances are down, crowds are down, the atmosphere in Mem is down and results are down....yet we remain afloat because of the hard work in 2023. The previous guys have to take credit for this.
Yesterday, I can give credit that no one appeared not to try, and there was no drop in some quality, but there's a huge gap in our vulnerability and confidence that runs throughout the team. I think many feel the nothing to play for is eroding away, and this reflects our 90mins.
If I had to give m o m probably Keeper. Conteh done well. Luca brilliant tackle and pushed forward. I think I'd leave it at that.
All others were anonymous, again the new massive defender Baggot decides to take his time on distribution, LT didn't want to go outside and take on his man, JM anonymous, but he was up front on his own v 3 defenders.
I'll say it again....you have to play 2 up front against these physical teams. But that's where we are.... dysfunctional and apathetic.
MT got it wrong again, his pm comments remind me of JAB in COVID relegation, a subtle resignation to that's where we are. I admire the honesty, it isn't dressed up. But what does it take to get through to the players team club you are disrespectful to the paying public you didn't have only 3 years ago? A 5-6-7-nil beating? It's coming around the corner and I can see frustrations only getting worse before better...
In a few years, wherever we are, historians may look back at this season and ponder...?
Mangham had the best stats in 2 separate spells out of at least 3 managers, and he was promptly not up to the job!?
We are light years behind...

Another £60-100 I saved. I cannot be bothered to go, not until the board show some affirmative and realistic action , we really are the gift that keeps on giving , to the 82.

What a circus we have

The thick as s**t award for this game based on the most idiotic action depriving us of a hard earned corner goes to John Marquis for fouling the goalkeeper when the ball had already been tipped over the bar.

Yep, I used to bring four of my family over from Cardiff and now it’s only two of us. These owners worry me greatly, notwithstanding the circumstances around their sudden arrival.

What a circus we have Does that mean already in default or taken by the creditor in anticipation of same?. Already owe money to several and local businesses and a charge by nationwide. People are not being paid, I do not care if I am not believed. The fish fits from the head down. The club needs proper football people, who can also run an FC, with all of the things that go with that.

New owner talking of getting to the Prem rather sums it all up. What a plum he is. Wael really has sold us down the river, maybe literally. The rug salesman and football hobbyist/Walter Mitty, together. Looked so good after DC guided us back to L1. Reminds me of Scott’s what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive
