A win we sorely needed and with a another signing or two we can build a solid foundation for next season.
Really pleased for Jed Ward a great day for him.

That looked pretty decent to me. If only there was a mute button.

Hard working Vale finally on the score sheet, happy days!…. Great celebrations when it went in. A realisation that what was an extremely hard fought game, had just become somewhat easier.

Just got back..
What a lovely time on the Road, busy as usual and how many coppers does it take to change a lightbulb? Quite a few, and a horsey or two too ...?
Oh well the police crime commissioner election is on May 3rd if anyone's still awake?
Anyhoos, onto something less important: I got that one wrong!
I've heard of Gavin Ward (tw@t) I've heard of an election ward. I've even heard of someone called Grant Ward on the sick (not the kids saying), but now we've all heard of Jed Ward, no not the Irish double act .... the coming of age of a new era in Gas goalkeeping. What a difference it makes to have a normal goalkeeper with confidence. It galvanised the defence, and we played (with our loads of changes) with purpose and clarity. Ward rightly named m o m with brilliant save at 3-1 and commanded his area. Oxford were forced to change tactics, and the only time he was breached was by deflection..
Ably supported by Crama, Wilson, Hunt and Friend....a defence looking as competent as any other against a team going for play offs and recently top the table.
Finley.... brilliant. A sublime last ditch tackle in second half on their wiley no16, cautiously admired, who seemed to stroll his way through our right flank....then set up the 3rd with decent shot and save. He was everywhere again. Playing high pressure mid and supported by new geezer Conteh. A steady debut. I don't think I saw him give one ball away. Nothing fancy, just industrious and involved...
CM.... all he does is score goals?! I mean, someone needs to look at that! Haha!
Hey, great to see Souf Stand in voice, I'm not condoning the blue flare, because many had those in Eastville, but we need to cut that out for further repercussions, even though I see it as an over exuberance as opposed to a nasty expression....but that's the country we live in. Some others, it's culturally acceptable.
Conclusion: Well done, MT. Made some big calls in pre match selection. We started with more tempo, pace, determination and direct play...we took a shot!? Remember that? We actually took a shot, and have a guess what? We caused havoc and scored a few times?! Incredible....who knew? A balance in the line up helped everything.
One criticism. Oxford pressing, we defended too deep and ultimately they scored in run of play. I would like to have seen a tweak or a sub to counter that....I think he made his subs too late.
But hey we won and deserved it. We got our just desserts after our debacle away result under 'him' and had a great day on the Road to boot!?
This is like the Rovers we know.... please sir, can we have some more?

Match Stats: BRFC 3 Oxford 1 - Possession 42% - 58% - Shots: 9-10 - On Target: 6-5 - Corners: 5-5 - Referee: Ben Speedie - Attendance: 9,363 (915 away) Bristol Rovers ended a four-match losing streak in League One as Chris Martin's 11th goal of the season helped his side to a 3-1 win against Oxford. Martin, who extended his contract with the Gas earlier this week, met Antony Evans' flick from a Jack Hunt cross to plant a left-foot shot low past goalkeeper Jamie Cumming in the 16th minute. And it was a two-goal lead for the home side six minutes later when Luke Thomas collected a Sam Finley pass and wriggled away from several challenges before firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the area, despite Cumming getting a hand to the ball. Jed Ward saved a Ruben Rodrigues effort after 52 minutes before Oxford pulled a goal back when Cameron Branagan's shot from the edge of the box deflected off Mark Harris and in six minutes later. But Rovers wrapped the game up with 13 minutes to go when Cummings parried Finley's low shot and Harvey Vale netted the rebound. Report supplied by PA Media.

I am so happy with the win today, pleased for the manager who comes across as a decent man, so happy for Jed Ward who had a great game and surely put to bed the requirement to blood and nourish some other clubs keeper and best of all, for the new owners son who has been savaged this past week on social media by warped individuals who now look complete mugs who backed someones attempts to regain credibility in the way the club functions.

A solid performance from young Jed Ward today, while watching him doing the routine things with confidence and looking at ease with what ever threat Oxford offered which included a world class save at the death to all but seal the victory my thoughts drifted back to the Twerton days and a young keeper called Nigel Martyn.
Lets hope Jed can maintain those Martyn type qualities he displayed on his home league debut.

Not only was the Oxford goal a fortunate wicked deflection, there's a suspicion it struck the Oxford player's arm.

Some moron thrown a flare on the pitch. From the new stand.... I get the feeling the "numptys" will emigrate to the south stand in the quest for a bit of taunting and aggressive behaviour toward the away fans 😡 Like many of us did at Eastville but North stand. I was young, dumb and full of c..
